Windows 11 Allows Selection of Webcam Resolution
Microsoft is introducing an exciting feature that allows users to select the resolution settings for their webcams or any specific webcams connected to a Windows 11 device.
This new capability was discovered by Windows aficionado @phantomofearth in a recent Canary channel build of Windows 11, which includes enhanced options for configuring webcams, enabling users to pick from various resolution settings.
Users will have the flexibility to either let Windows automatically determine the best resolution or manually select a preferred alternative, as highlighted in the accompanying image above.
Currently, this feature remains hidden, and it’s uncertain if Microsoft plans to integrate it into the stable release of Windows 11 in the future. However, if you are part of the Canary channel and are eager to experiment with it, you can activate this feature using a specific command.
To do so, you’ll need ViveTool, a third-party utility that helps unlock hidden functionalities in Windows 11. Here is the command to enable it (thanks to @phantomofearth):
vivetool /enable /id:52142480
We’d love to hear about your experience with this feature!
