Sync Windows 10 Settings Across Multiple Devices Easily

  • To adjust your synchronization settings on Windows 10, navigate to Settings > Accounts > Windows backup and switch the “Quickly access your preferences across Microsoft experiences” option on or off.
  • You can also specify which settings the OS will upload to the cloud and synchronize between your devices.

If you sign in using a Microsoft account on Windows 10, it’s possible to synchronize your settings across all devices linked to that account.

When this feature is active, you can synchronize accounts, Wi-Fi networks and passwords, language preferences, and a variety of other configurations, such as printer settings, mouse options, File Explorer layouts, and notification preferences.

Microsoft introduced this capability to support a seamless experience across devices. However, it’s not ideal for all users, particularly those who prefer to maintain different configurations. Luckily, Windows 10 provides you with the flexibility to choose which settings you want to sync across your devices. You even have the option to completely turn off this feature if you wish to configure your devices independently.

In this guide, I will show you how to select the specific settings you want to synchronize between your PCs or to disable syncing entirely.

Configure sync settings on Windows 10

To activate or deactivate synchronization for your settings, follow these steps:

  1. Launch Settings on Windows 10.

  2. Select Accounts.

  3. Choose Windows backup.

  4. (Option 1) Enable the “Quickly access your preferences across Microsoft experiences” toggle to activate the feature.

    Windows 10 enable sync settings

  5. (Option 2) Disable the “Quickly access your preferences across Microsoft experiences” toggle to turn off the feature.

Upon completing these steps, syncing will begin for your settings across all devices. If the option is disabled, settings won’t sync, which means you’ll have to configure each device individually.

Modify sync settings on Windows 10

To adjust your sync settings on Windows 10, follow these steps:

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Select Accounts.

  3. Click on Sync your settings.

  4. Toggle on or off each setting you wish to synchronize:

    • Accessibility.
    • Accounts, Wi-Fi networks, and passwords.
    • Personalization.
    • Language preferences and dictionary.
    • Additional Windows settings.

    Windows 10 change sync settings

After completing these steps, only the selected settings will sync across devices using the same Microsoft account.
