With Windows 11, you now have the ability to showcase your connected Wi-Fi password using a QR code. This feature makes it easy for other devices to connect effortlessly to your Wi-Fi network by simply scanning the QR code.

The latest 24H2 update for Windows 11 also introduces compatibility with Wi-Fi 7, which follows the new IEEE 802.11be Extremely High Throughput (EHT) standard. This advancement means users can theoretically achieve speeds of up to 40 Gbps, provided they possess a Wi-Fi 7 network adapter.

  • Press Windows Key + I to open the Settings menu.

If you have a QR code instead of a traditional Wi-Fi password, you can connect to the network using the Windows Camera app.

  • Begin by downloading and installing the Windows Camera app if it’s not already on your system, then open the app.
  • Switch to the Barcode mode within the Camera app.
  • Use the Windows camera to scan the QR code, and it should enable your connection to the Wi-Fi network.

Hopefully, these steps will assist you.

Can Windows Generate a QR Code?

Currently, Windows lacks built-in tools to directly create a QR code. However, if you use browsers like Chrome, Edge, or Brave, you can generate QR codes by visiting a webpage, right-clicking, and selecting “create QR code for this page.” For Brave, simply click the share button in the address bar and choose “Create QR Code.”

Can Computers Scan QR Codes?

Computers equipped with webcams can indeed scan QR codes. You can utilize the Windows Camera app or any compatible website designed to read QR codes. Many online platforms even offer the functionality to upload your QR code and extract the underlying data.
