  • To upgrade to Windows 11 24H2, navigate to Settings > Windows Update, enable “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available,” then click on “Check for updates” , and finally tap the “Download & install” button.
  • You can also perform the upgrade using the Installation Assistant, an ISO file, or through the Windows Insider Program.

UPDATED 10/2/2024: Windows 11 24H2 (2024 Update) is available starting October 1, 2024. This guide will walk you through the steps for an early upgrade. While early upgrades are typically not advised due to potential bugs and issues, if you’re eager to access the new features, there are several methods to upgrade to version 24H2. For instance, you may enroll your device in the Release Preview Channel of the Windows Insider Program, then use the “Windows Update” settings to perform the upgrade. Alternatively, you can download the Windows 11 24H2 ISO for either a clean installation or in-place upgrade.

Microsoft has released version 24H2 for Copilot+ PCs with ARM-based processors starting June 18, 2024. However, the final release for existing PCs will roll out on October 8, 2024.

The Windows 11 2024 Update introduces a variety of new features, particularly AI-driven innovations through the Windows Copilot Runtime. These include Windows Recall (delayed), Voice Clarity, Windows Studio Effects, Live Captions, and Auto Super Resolution (Auto SR). Non-AI enhancements feature a new Energy Saver mode for laptops and desktops, Windows Protected Print Mode, Linux Sudo command support, and updates for Bluetooth and Sound, including the migration of “Color Management” settings to the Settings app.

If your device already supports Windows 11, you can upgrade directly to Windows 11 24H2 as system requirements have not officially changed.

For users still on Windows 10, a direct upgrade is possible, provided your hardware meets the minimum specifications. This includes having an Intel 8th Gen or newer, AMD Zen 2 or newer, or Qualcomm 7 and 8 Series processor, along with TPM 2.0 and at least 64GB of storage.
