Solutions for Small App Icons on iPhone – Steps to Fix the Issue

Are the app icons on your iPhone appearing smaller than you’d like? This can sometimes happen for various reasons. If this is the case, our guide will walk you through some solutions. The zoom setting on your iPhone might affect the size of app icons, as can certain customization options. We’ve explored all potential causes and identified two effective methods to resolve this issue.

What Causes the App Icons to Be Small on My iPhone?

Having smaller app icons allows you to fit more icons on your screen simultaneously. This organization means fewer page swipes when launching apps, as a greater number are visible at once.

However, smaller icons can prove challenging for older users or individuals with visual impairments. As the icons shrink, it can become increasingly difficult to select the intended one accurately. To mitigate this, it’s important to find an ideal zoom level for app icons.

Solution 1 – Adjust the Zoom Level

Your iPhone has a universal zoom setting that impacts the entire iOS interface. Adjusting this setting should help enhance the size of your app icons.

Step 1 – Begin by opening the Settings app on your device.

Step 2 – Next, navigate to the “Display & Brightness” section.

Step 3 – Scroll down to locate the ‘Display‘ option and then access the “Display Zoom” settings.

Step 4 – Change to the “Larger Text” option.

Step 5 – Confirm the changes by tapping the “Done” button.

Step 6 – You will see a prompt on your screen similar to the following:

Changing Display Zoom will restart iPhone.

Step 7 – Select “Use Zoomed” to complete the process.

You should now notice a change with enlarged menus, text, and app icons. Head back to your Home Screen to verify the adjustment.

Solution 2 – Resize the App Icons

With iOS 18, it’s possible to increase the size of your app icons directly from the home screen. This adjustment allows you to display the icons larger while removing their labels.

Step 1 – Unlock your iPhone and press and hold anywhere on the Home Screen for a few seconds.

Step 2 – This action will reveal the editing options on your device.

Step 3 – Click on the “Edit” button, then select “Customize.”

Step 4 – Choose the “Large” option from the bottom customization menu.

Now, your app icons will display without their names, appearing larger than before. This should effectively resolve the issue of small app icons.
