Microsoft has launched an exciting new suite of enterprise AI functionalities for its Microsoft 365 Copilot service. The latest addition is the Copilot agents feature within Microsoft Copilot Studio, enabling users to create, manage, and deploy AI agents aimed at automating business processes efficiently.

These agents are designed to integrate seamlessly with a company’s existing data and knowledge bases, whether sourced from Microsoft 365, Azure, or third-party systems. Users have the flexibility to publish these agents across Microsoft Teams, web platforms, or mobile applications, facilitating sharing across various organizations.

As of now, Microsoft reports “incredible customer adoption” of Copilot Studio, highlighting that over 50,000 organizations are actively using the platform.

With the latest update to Copilot Studio, users can now publish Copilot agents directly into Microsoft 365 Copilot. These agents will appear within chat and search results across Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat, the Microsoft 365 app, and Microsoft Teams, allowing users to engage with agents through both text and voice interactions.

Microsoft is introducing a streamlined version of Copilot Studio specifically for Microsoft 365 Copilot, which functions as the company’s conversational AI service tailored for businesses. This intuitive version of the Copilot Studio interface allows Microsoft 365 Copilot users to create agents directly within Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat and SharePoint, without any coding or prior AI experience needed.

The new, user-friendly Copilot Studio is currently available in preview mode, with Microsoft indicating that a wider rollout will take place for all customers in the coming weeks. Additionally, a marketplace for agents generated through Copilot Studio is now accessible to users in Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat, Teams, and the Microsoft 365 app, with IT administrators managing access to this store.

Moreover, Microsoft is unveiling a more advanced category of agent within Copilot Studio—autonomous agents. Currently in preview, these agents can implement plans or tasks, learn from employee interactions, and escalate issues to a human when necessary. Furthermore, Copilot Studio users will soon be able to design agents that can “ingest” data from various knowledge sources, including databases and documents, rather than relying solely on prebuilt skills.

Governance features for Microsoft Copilot Studio are now generally available, while the preview of autonomous agents is currently accessible to customers located in the U.S. and Canada.
