OpenAI Launches Advanced Voice Mode for ChatGPT on the Web
Key Information
- OpenAI has introduced the voice chat capability of ChatGPT for web browsers, allowing you to engage in conversations directly through your desktop browser.
- Currently, this feature is exclusively available to paying subscribers (Plus, Enterprise, Teams, or Edu), but free access will be available shortly.
- Users can select from a range of nine distinct voices, with ChatGPT able to respond to your emotional tone and speaking pace.
OpenAI is expanding the voice interaction experience to web browsers, a step beyond the existing mobile and desktop applications. Now, you can converse with ChatGPT right in your web browser.
This newly launched feature utilizes OpenAI’s advanced audio technology, facilitating real-time dialogue. ChatGPT not only processes your words but also interprets your delivery style, creating a more engaging conversation flow.
You can find the Voice button located in the lower-right corner of the ChatGPT interface. After granting your browser permission to access the microphone, a blue orb will indicate that voice mode is activated and ready to go.
ChatGPT provides nine voices for you to choose from, each characterized by a unique personality— for instance, “Arbor” is suited for laid-back chats, whereas “Ember” energizes discussions.
At this moment, utilizing this feature requires a paid subscription, but free users will be granted access in the near future. Paid subscribers should be aware of daily usage restrictions; you’ll receive a notification 15 minutes before reaching those limits.
This web-based integration allows a larger audience to utilize voice chat functionalities without the need for additional app installations, simplifying AI interactions for everyone.
