OnePlus has astonished its user base by launching the stable OxygenOS 15 update, powered by Android 15, for the OnePlus 12 ahead of schedule. This positions the OnePlus 12 among the first non-Pixel devices to access the global stable Android 15 update.
According to 9To5Google, the operating system has undergone a robust redesign, featuring a new graphics engine that promotes smoother animations and rendering performance, even during intensive usage. Users will experience enhanced swipe consistency system-wide that applies to third-party applications, ensuring a more cohesive scrolling experience throughout.
The Home screen has received a vibrant redesign with updated icons and fresh themes. Alongside this, OnePlus has introduced a new selection of wallpapers that align with the refined visual theme. Furthermore, the Quick Settings panel has been separated from the notification section, enabling users to access notifications with a swipe from the top left and Quick Settings with a swipe from the top right.
Multitasking capabilities have been improved with new floating window gestures. Users can swipe down on notification banners to create floating windows that can be resized, closed, or hidden as desired. The Split View function has also been upgraded, allowing users to resize windows by dragging the divider or tapping to maximize the display area.
Additionally, OnePlus has integrated advanced battery management options, such as the “Charging limit” feature that caps charging at 80% to protect battery longevity. Enhanced security measures such as Theft Detection Lock and Remote Lock have also been introduced to safeguard devices.
One standout new feature is the “Share with iPhone” functionality, simplifying the process of file sharing between OnePlus devices and iPhones. It allows for seamless sharing of documents, images, and videos across different platforms.
The rollout is taking place in phases across various regions, so if you haven’t received it yet, it should be available to you within the next few days. OnePlus also intends to expand the Android 15 update to additional models, including the OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Open, and OnePlus Pad 2 over the upcoming weeks.
