Microsoft Withdraws Windows 11 Optional Update from September 26 Due to PC Issues
Microsoft has temporarily suspended the rollout of the Windows 11 KB5043145 update due to significant issues reported by users, including critical errors like the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) and Green Screen of Death (GSOD). Although Microsoft’s spokesperson did not provide specific details on the problem, a support representative confirmed that the update was “paused”to address these issues.
Windows Latest has reported extensively on the problems arising from the Windows 11 KB5043145 update. This optional update, released on September 26, 2024, has led to serious complications for numerous users.
According to feedback on our forums, the optional Windows 11 update from September 26 has resulted in “Blue Screen of Death” (BSOD) and “Green Screen of Death” (GSOD) errors, preventing some devices from booting correctly.
If you are experiencing these issues, you may find your device caught in a boot loop, with the system automatically switching to recovery mode to attempt repairs or roll back the update.
This bug appears to affect specific configurations. Reports indicate that Asus models, such as the TUF A15 and ROG Strix G17, are among those impacted, although the problem may extend beyond these particular devices.
Microsoft is aware of the situation and is currently investigating, but they have not detailed which models are affected.
“After installing this update, some customers have reported that their device restarts multiple times or becomes unresponsive with blue or green screens,” Microsoft acknowledged in a support document. “We are currently investigating this issue.”
In the most severe cases, users may be prompted to enter their BitLocker recovery keys during this troubleshooting process.
Microsoft Pauses Windows 11 Update Released on September 26

Microsoft support staff informed me that the update will continue to be accessible on the Update Catalog for those who require it.
In addition to the BSOD/GSOD issues, several users have reported malfunctioning USB ports, particularly impacting devices such as keyboards and mice. Intel NUC models and certain Asus laptops seem especially vulnerable, as USB functionality can cease after the installation of the KB5043145 update.
Moreover, problems with the Windows update don’t end there. Reports surfaced on GitHub regarding Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL2) failing to launch due to a connection timeout error, although this bug seems to affect a limited number of users with AMD processors.
Microsoft is aware of the WSL 2 crashes and has already implemented a fix through a Microsoft Store update.
Other issues include a WiFi connectivity problem where the option to connect to WiFi vanishes from the taskbar. Additionally, some context menus revert to the Windows 10 style, and there have been incidents of Windows updates failing with error codes 0x800f0845 and 0x80246019, which have become increasingly common.
