Microsoft Transforms Windows 11 Clock Timer and Countdown Into Flexible Widgets for Easy Pinning
Microsoft has introduced an exciting new feature for the Windows 11 Clock app, enabling users to pin timers directly to their widget board. The latest update to the Clock application incorporates a Timer widget that users can easily affix to their desktop widget board.
Another addition is the Day Countdown widget. This new feature allows users to select any date and monitor the countdown of days until that date arrives. Users can add various dates to the widget and switch between them seamlessly.
This update was highlighted by Windows Insider @phantomofearth, as Microsoft starts rolling out the Timer and Day Countdown widgets to Windows Insiders in the Canary Channel. For those not part of the Windows Insider program, there is a way to manually update the Windows 11 Clock app via an online bundle.
To manually install the updated Windows 11 Clock app, visit store.rg-adguard.net and search using the ProductId for “Microsoft.WindowsAlarms.” After downloading the bundle, double-click it to initiate the update for the Clock app.
Once updated, navigate to the Windows Widgets interface by pressing Win + W, and then click the plus button to add the Timer and Day Countdown widgets to your board.
If you run into any issues with the updated Clock app, you can uninstall it through the Start menu or the Settings app, then install the Stable version from the Microsoft Store.
It’s essential to note that Microsoft has not yet granted the capability to pin Windows 11 widgets to the desktop itself, although this functionality is under development.
In other widget-related news, Windows 11 version 24H2 will introduce a revamped Widget Board for users when it launches later this year.
