Microsoft Teams Introduces Custom Panel Naming Feature for Users

Microsoft Teams is set to empower administrators with the ability to name their Teams panels on Rooms Pro and Teams Shared Devices.

According to the most recent update on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, admins will now have the option to assign custom names for these panels, which will be featured on the home screen of the panel, effectively replacing the global address book name that is currently shown in Outlook or Teams.

This feature, however, is scheduled for release in December 2024. Importantly, it will be made available to all users.

In related news, the tech giant based in Redmond has recently announced another significant update: the Intelligent Meeting Recap feature in Teams will be optional, allowing admins to disable it during meetings.

Administrators can utilize the Teams Rooms Pro Management portal to assign custom names to their Teams Rooms Pro or Teams Shared Device licensed panels. These new custom names will be displayed on the panel’s home screen, replacing the global address book name shown in Outlook or Teams.
