Microsoft Releases Windows 11 24H2 ISO That Functions Without a Microsoft Account
According to a recent report from Windows Latest, the rollout of Windows 11 24H2 could commence in the upcoming weeks. Microsoft has instructed OEMs to prepare drivers that are compatible with Windows 11 24H2 by adhering to new guidelines and has started getting the media files (.ISO) ready. Links to OEM ISOs are already available on Microsoft’s servers.
Windows Latest discovered a Windows 11 24H2 file identified as “X23-81971_26100.1742.240906-0331.ge_release_svc_refresh_CLIENT_CONSUMER_x64FRE_en-us.iso” . This file seems to represent an official release of Windows 11 24H2, although its naming convention is somewhat unconventional compared to the anticipated file names such as “Win11_24H2_English_x64.iso” .
The extended identifier and metadata in the file name (for example, svc_refresh, ge_release) suggest that it is an internal or OEM release. The naming format “ge_release_svc_refresh” is typically associated with pre-release versions or refresh ISOs distributed to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) or meant for internal testing.
Another ISO labeled “CLIENT_CONSUMER_x64FRE” indicates that it is likely intended for consumer use, but once again, it is aimed at OEM purposes.
While these ISO files might be accessible online, Windows Latest strongly advises against employing OEM ISOs on production systems.
If you’re curious, I’ve included a link to the. ISO files in the comments section of this article. These files are hosted on Microsoft servers, ensuring they are authenticated and checked against the checksum, but usage of the Windows 11 24H2 OEM refresh on your production PC is not recommended.
Is it possible to use Windows 11 without a Microsoft account?
Contrary to popular belief circulating online, Microsoft has not eliminated the “OOBE\BypassNRO” command, which is commonly utilized to bypass the network requirement during the Out-Of-Box Experience (OOBE).
Windows 11 usually necessitates a network connection and sign-in with a Microsoft account, but this process can be bypassed by executing the above command in the Command Prompt.
Windows Latest confirms that OOBE\Bypassnro remains functional in these leaked ISOs designed for OEM testing.
Additionally, it’s important to highlight that Windows 11 24H2 now enables device encryption (BitLocker) automatically during fresh installations. However, users have the option to disable encryption after setting up their PC by navigating to the system settings.
