Microsoft Edge Officially Deprecates Crypto Wallet Feature with Update 129 for Stable Channel Users
Microsoft has officially launched Edge 129 in the Stable channel, bringing a range of new updates to the popular web browser. Notably, the Crypto Wallet feature, which allowed users to manage cryptocurrencies directly within Edge, has been deprecated. Microsoft stated that this decision is aimed at enhancing the overall user experience, although no further details were provided. This change has been hinted at in the Insider channels for some time.
Additionally, Microsoft has revised the minimum system requirements for Edge on macOS. Moving forward, the company will no longer support macOS versions older than 11.0, which was first released in 2020. For further details, refer to Microsoft Edge Supported Operating Systems.
Edge 129 introduces several new features aimed at web developers, including the deprecation of non-standard declarative shadow DOM serialization and the includeShadowRoots
attribute for the DOMParser interface. You can find a comprehensive overview of these changes in the MDN Web Docs.
This update addresses three security vulnerabilities, two of which could facilitate remote code execution and one that involves a spoofing bug. If you haven’t received the update yet, Edge 129 should be available on the stable channel soon.
While Edge 129 is now broadly available, Microsoft also rolled out Edge 128 to the Extended Stable channel, catering specifically to enterprise users.
To update your Edge installation, simply navigate to Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
