Microsoft Azure will host two new NVIDIA cloud services: AI and metaverse.

NVIDIA revealed a new partnership with Microsoft as one of the several announcements it made today at its GTC developer and AI conference. Two new NVIDIA cloud-based services will be hosted by Microsoft Azure as part of the agreement.

The first is NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud, designed for enterprises and corporate clients that wish to build metaverse-based services. According to NVIDIA:

Through Omniverse Cloud, NVIDIA and Microsoft provide customers a full-stack cloud environment and platform capabilities to design, develop, deploy and manage industrial metaverse applications. Omniverse Cloud also connects with the products that customers use from NVIDIA’s partner ecosystem.

Furthermore, Microsoft 365 apps such as Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint will be able to link to NVIDIA Omniverse to assist organizations in collaborating and developing 3D metaverse apps. In the second half of 2023, NVIDIA Omniverse Cloud will be offered through Azure.

The second collaboration between Microsoft and NVIDIA will be for NVIDIA DGX Cloud. This will be a service for corporate clients that will provide them with “access to the infrastructure and tools required to train sophisticated models for generative AI and other breakthrough applications.” Microsoft Azure will make it accessible in the second quarter of 2023.

NVIDIA revealed several interesting announcements today at GTC 2023. These included broadening the usage of the Hopper-based NVIDIA H100 GPUs by firms like as Meta, OpenAI, and for their AI applications and services. It also announced a partnership with Shutterstock, which would assist the picture and video asset firm in creating 3D models with text prompts based on those images.
