Microsoft Announces Windows 11 24H2 Rollout to Additional PCs Amid Significant Issues
Windows 11 24H2 has officially started rolling out to a broader range of PCs. Microsoft announced this development through an update to its support documentation released quietly yesterday, and it’s been highlighted by Windows Latest today. Although Microsoft states that Windows 11 24H2 is available for all compatible devices, some configurations—particularly those with incompatible applications or drivers—might not see the update immediately.
“This new iteration of Windows is being deployed in phases and has reached an expanded availability stage,” Microsoft mentioned in a recent update to its support document (Windows issues dashboard). “Version 24H2 is now being extended to a broader selection of eligible devices presently running Windows 11, specifically versions 22H2 and 23H2.”
So, how can you determine if Windows 11 24H2 is available for your computer? Simply navigate to Settings > Windows Update and click on Check for updates. If your device is prepared for the upgrade, you’ll see an option to Download and install.
Selecting the immediate update option could lead to Windows 11 24H2 being installed automatically, so exercise caution.
However, Windows 11 24H2 has its share of issues, driving me to distraction with the recurring major bugs that crop up from time to time.
I’ve reported on various concerns regarding Windows 11 24H2, including some undocumented glitches, such as the frustrating bug that causes the mouse cursor or text highlighter to vanish when you click on the address bar in browsers like Chrome or Edge.
