  • This security update addresses a limited range of issues, and no new features have been introduced.

UPDATED 11/12/2024: The Windows 10 updates for versions 22H2 and 21H2 are now being deployed through the KB5046613 security update, which includes critical fixes and enhancements.

As outlined in the official release notes, the KB5046613 update resolves a Blue Screen of Death error associated with the vmswitch process and rectifies an issue encountered during the upgrade to Windows 11. Additionally, it addresses concerns related to product activation phone numbers, Multi-Function Printers (MFP), and WebView2 applications. The release also updates the country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profile.

The update corrects a problem that hindered the launching or ceasing of games following the installation of update KB5044384, particularly for games relying on a third-party DRM component incompatible with that update.

Updates for Earlier Windows 10 Versions

Furthermore, Microsoft is providing updates for earlier versions of the operating system, including 1809, 1607, and 1507.

For instance, the KB5046615 update for version 1809 enhances the build number to 17763.6532, introducing improvements such as fixes for vmswitch and updates for the Windows Kernel Vulnerable Driver Blocklist file (DriverSiPolicy.p7b).

The version 1607 of Windows 10 is being updated with KB5046612, which raises the build to 14393.7515 and resolves an issue with the vmswitch process.

Lastly, Windows 10 version 1507 will receive the KB5046665 update, updating the version to build 10240.20826 and addressing similar fixes as version 1607 along with various other security concerns.

Additional Modifications

In conjunction with the modifications in the Settings application, KB5046613 also introduces updates for devices registered in the Beta and Release Preview Channels.

For example, the Start menu’s account manager now includes the “Sign out” option directly in the main menu, and the submenu displays which account users can switch to.
