KB5025228 updates Windows 10 1607 to OS Build 14393.5850

April 2023 Security update, KB5025228, is now available for all Windows versions including Windows 10 version 1607 and Windows Server 2016. With this patch, Microsoft brings some quality changes to this version which you will notice after upgrading to OS Build 14393.5850.

KB5025228 – Improvements and New Features

With this patch update, Microsoft brings the following changes to Windows 10 version 1607 –

  • Agrees to update the Daylight Saving Time per the Arab Republic of Egypt Government’s order for 2023.
  • Resolves a known issue that affects Microsoft Edge IE mode and pages that use predictive prerendering. This happens because Edge IE doesn’t support predictive prerendering.
  • Addresses compatibility issues affecting some printers which use Windows Graphical Device Interface (GDI) printer drivers. This occurs because the required drivers on such printers don’t adhere to GDI specifications.

Microsoft confirms that they are not aware of any known issues with this patch update.

How to Get this cumulative update

As usual, one may download and install this security update directly by visiting Windows Update and hitting Check for updates. The system will connect to Microsoft Servers online and check if any update is pending for your device. Do note that the pending update will download and install automatically. All you require is to restart your computer and your operating system will upgrade to the next available Build version.
