Jack Dorsey Admits Elon Musk Isn’t the Right Person for Twitter

Twitter has changed a lot since Elon Musk took over the reins a few months ago. Between changing the algorithm for what shows up in your feed and removing the blue checkmark for verified accounts, users are seemingly leaving in droves. Even former CEO and co-founder Jack Dorsey admits that Musk wasn’t the right person to take over the microblogging platform.

The Era of Musk

Musk stepped into the commander’s chair in October last year and quickly made drastic changes. In one notable incident, he changed the signage outside the San Francisco head office by covering up the “w” in “Twitter.”

Dorsey has somewhat refrained from commenting on Musk’s eccentric behavior. But when asked on his Twitter alternative platform Bluesky about whether Musk was the right person for the job, he didn’t mince his words.

“No. Nor do I think he acted right after realizing his timing was bad. Nor do I think the board should have forced the sale. It all went south. But it happened, and all we can do now is build something to avoid that ever happening again,” he replied on the invite-only Bluesky.

Another user was quick to take aim at Dorsey for Twitter’s troubles, saying that the co-founder never apologized for anything and is pinning the failure on Musk. Dorsey was having none of it and replied that it was an “(ignorant) take, and you know it. I’ve apologized for much and critiqued plenty.”
