Inviting Collaboration on Apple Music Using Windows 11

Inviting Collaboration on Apple Music Using Windows 11

Key Information

  • The Apple Music app for Windows now supports inviting others to collaborate on playlists.
  • To invite collaborators, simply click on the Collaborate icon on your playlist, select ‘Approve Collaborators’ to control who can contribute, and then click Start Collaborating to share the generated link with your friends.
  • Keep in mind that the collaboration link is only active for 7 days. If you need to generate a new link or modify collaboration settings, click the Collaborate icon again to access these options.

As with many music streaming services, collaboration features have become standard on Apple Music. However, the Windows version of the Apple Music app, which was upgraded last year, now offers the ability to collaborate on playlists.

How to Invite Collaboration on Apple Music for Windows

Start by opening a playlist in the Apple Music app. Then, find and click the Collaborate button located in the upper right corner of the playlist.

You will be presented with the ‘Invite People to Join’ dialogue, where you can choose whether to Approve Collaborators before they can add their tracks to your playlist.

If you’d prefer to restrict collaborators from adding tracks and managing the playlist, ensure this setting is toggled on. Conversely, if your playlist is public and you’d like anyone with the link to contribute, leave this option disabled.

After configuring your settings, click on Start Collaborating.

You can then choose to Copy link or Share in Email.

Share this link with your fellow Apple Music users. Please remember that the collaboration invite link will expire after 1 week.

Understanding Collaboration in the Apple Music Windows App

Playlists that support collaboration can be easily recognized by a two-person icon displayed next to them. You can check the ‘Added By’ column for a quick overview of who contributed which songs.

Collaborators have the ability to add new tracks, respond to existing ones in the playlist, and rearrange their order.

Note: You can only invite collaborators to playlists that you have personally created. Apple Music-generated playlists are not available for collaboration.

If you need to manage your collaboration settings, view who has access, regenerate your invite link, or disable collaboration, simply click on the Collaboration icon again to find those options.

The Apple Music app for Windows has seen impressive improvements. It allows for the manual addition of songs and custom lyrics, syncing seamlessly across devices.

Despite some minor issues—like the absence of playback controls when hovering over the taskbar icon—and a few bugs, the app has introduced several important features that enhance the overall Apple Music experience across platforms.

The latest update also provides a full-screen lyrics option. This can be accessed via the three-dot menu in the top left corner by selecting ‘Full screen player’ or by using the Ctrl+Shift+F shortcut for easy access.

You can download the Apple Music app for Windows from the Microsoft Store.
