How to Fix Mail Contents Appearing in Search Results

Are you noticing that email content shows up when you search for something in the Mail app on your iPhone? If so, having too many emails in your search results can make it difficult to locate the specific item you need. Fortunately, there is a quick and simple way to prevent your email messages from appearing in search results. This process will only take about a minute.

Why Are Emails Appearing in Search Results?

The Apple Spotlight search engine on the iPhone scans and indexes all the files, messages, emails, and other content on your device. When you use Spotlight to search for something, it displays relevant items from across the device, which includes content from the Mail app.

If your search query matches any content within your emails, those emails will show up in the search results. This can slow down your ability to find the specific item you’re looking for, ultimately hampering your productivity. Unlike other iPhone settings, you have the option to manage what appears in Spotlight search results.

Solution – Disable Emails from Appearing in the Search Results

You can easily turn off the emails from showing in search results.

Step 1 – Begin by accessing the Settings on your iPhone. Simply tap the βš™ button.

This simple toggle manages what appears in your iPhone’s search results. After you disable this option, emails will no longer show up when you search using the Search feature on your iPhone.

1. In the iPhone Settings, open the β€œApps” menu.

2. Open the β€œMail” app.

3. Again, navigate to the β€œSearch” option.

4. In the Mail settings, enable the β€œShow Content in Search” option when you want to see your email contents back in search results.
