How to Fix Chrome Opening Facebook App on iPhone

Are you experiencing an issue where Chrome opens the Facebook app on your iPhone? Many users have reported a similar problem, where attempting to access Facebook through Chrome redirects them to the app instead of the Facebook website. In this article, we will delve into this issue and provide the quickest and most efficient solutions to resolve it.

Why Does Chrome Open the Facebook App on iPhone?

When accessing your Facebook wall via the Chrome browser, you might notice that it redirects you to the Facebook app almost instantly. This redirection is intended to improve the user experience, as the app offers a more refined interface compared to the web version. However, this behavior can be problematic if you prefer to access Facebook through your web browser rather than the app.

Resolving this issue is straightforward. You can prevent the app from opening by navigating to Facebook through a new web page. This way, you will remain in the Chrome browser without being redirected to the native app.

Fix 1 – Open Facebook on a Different Web Page

The simplest solution is to open Facebook on a new web page, rather than trying to refresh the existing tab.

Step 1 – In your Google search, look for Facebook.

Step 2 – Press and hold the Facebook link in the search results, then select the “Open in New Tab” option.

Once Facebook loads in the new web page, it will not redirect you to the Facebook app.

Step 3 – Switch to the newly opened tab where Facebook is displayed.

You can now continue using Facebook directly in the browser. Ignore any prompts to open the Facebook app.

Fix 2 – Use Facebook in Incognito Mode

If the issue persists and you are still redirected to the Facebook app, try accessing Facebook in incognito mode.

Step 1 – Open Google Chrome and tap the three-dot menu icon.

Step 2 – Tap on “New Incognito Tab” to launch an incognito window.

Step 4 – Navigate to the tab view to locate the Facebook webpage in the separate incognito tab.

If you receive any prompts to open the Facebook app, simply dismiss them.
