How to Fix Automatic Password Filling Issues on iPhone

Is your iPhone automatically entering passwords for you? This functionality, which allows iPhones to securely store passwords and fill them in when needed, can certainly be advantageous. However, it does have its downsides. If you’re looking to stop your iPhone from autofilling passwords, this guide is perfect for you.

Why Does My iPhone Autofill Passwords?

Your iPhone is designed to remember and retrieve passwords when required. The first time you log into an app or website, your device prompts you to save the password. The next time you visit that login page, the option to automatically fill in your credentials appears.

While this feature can be convenient, there are instances where it can become troublesome. For example, when you need to sign into the same site with different user accounts, consistently needing to erase pre-filled passwords can be frustrating. To help you disable this automatic password entry across various applications and websites, follow these steps.

Solution – Turn Off Automatic Password Filling

To modify this setting, you’ll adjust the Autofill Passwords feature in your Settings menu.

Step 1 – Begin by opening the Settings app from your home screen.

Step 2 – If you are using iOS 17 or earlier, tap on the “Passwords” section.

Step 3 – For those on iOS 18 or newer, head to the “General” section.
