Guide to Setting Content Restrictions for Movies and TV Shows on Apple TV

Essential Information

  • Control movie viewing on Apple TV through Settings > Restrictions > Movies Rating and TV Shows Rating.
  • With restrictions set, only films and episodes matching your selected ratings will appear.
  • It’s also possible to completely block all Movies and TV Shows on Apple TV.

Not all content available on streaming platforms is appropriate for children. If you have young ones at home, it might be wise to limit movie and TV show access based on their ratings within Apple TV. Here are the steps to modify content restrictions for movies and TV shows on Apple TV.

Steps to Limit Movie and TV Shows on the Apple TV App

Launch the Apple TV app. Click on the three-dot menu located in the upper-left corner, then choose Settings.

Next, click on Restrictions.

To limit access to movies, use the drop-down menu adjacent to Movies Rating.

Choose the desired rating. Only films within that rating range will be visible.

For TV shows, select the drop-down menu next to TV Shows Rating.

Then, set your preferred rating.

If you wish, you can also completely block access by selecting ‘Don’t Allow Movies’ or ‘Don’t Allow TV Shows’ from their respective drop-down options.
