For the latest Pixel 9 series, this scam detection capability is supported by Gemini Nano, whereas those using Pixel 6 through 8a benefit from Google’s on-device machine learning technology. The emphasis on privacy safety is clear, with assurances that no audio data or conversation details are recorded or sent to Google’s servers.

To take advantage of this feature, users with Pixel devices must manually activate it in the Google Phone app settings. The rollout currently focuses on English-speaking Phone by Google public beta testers in the United States who possess Pixel 6 or later models.
