Enhanced Reactions Card Design for Conversations in Viva Engage

Following the announcement of a Unified Create button for Viva Engage, Microsoft is rolling out updates that introduce a refreshed look for reactions in conversations.

As noted in the current Microsoft 365 Roadmap, these enhancements aim to offer a more interactive approach to the reaction section. The new design will feature others’ reactions displayed as clickable pills on the conversation card.

While images of the updated design are not yet available, Microsoft indicates that the new Viva Engage reactions will be coherent with the design language of other Microsoft 365 applications like Teams. Users can expect reactions to mirror that platform’s aesthetic.

It’s important to highlight that this redesign will not affect the number of icons available in Engage; however, the updated design will be evident on other platforms that incorporate Viva Engage, including Teams and Outlook.

Here’s what the entry states:

All modifications will be implemented in Viva Engage in October.

Viva Engage is set to unveil a new look and feel for reactions in conversations. Users will experience a more interactive style, with reactions presented as clickable pills alongside the conversation card. This change aligns Engage reactions with other Microsoft 365 products, like Teams. The number of icons in Engage will remain unchanged. Users will observe this transformation in the Engage web app, as well as in Teams and Outlook apps. Mobile applications and other integrated platforms will subsequently adopt this new design.
