Effortless Remote Access to Your Android Phone on Windows 11/10 with New Update
Microsoft has rolled out a groundbreaking update that enables users to access files on their Android phones remotely from a Windows PC. This means you can finally skip the hassle of emailing files to yourself or the annoyance of tangled cables.
In a blog post earlier this year, the tech powerhouse from Redmond announced that individuals using Android 11 can now connect their devices to Windows 11 effortlessly. Initially, the feature was exclusive to Windows 11, but it appears that Windows 10 users will also benefit from this functionality. Moreover, ensure that your Android device includes the Link to Windows app in its beta version (1.24071 or later).
To get started, head to Settings on your Windows 11 or 10 PC, then navigate to Bluetooth & devices > Mobile Devices. On your Android device, look for the “Your Phone Companion” option in the Settings app. Launch it and follow the prompts to pair your phone with your PC. After successfully connecting, link your Microsoft account to both devices.
Once this setup is complete, you can manage your devices. Locate your Android phone within the interface and switch it on, which will activate the toggle allowing your phone to appear in File Explorer.
If the toggle is visible, you are all set to utilize your phone app and its functionalities. If it’s not yet available, remain patient as Microsoft gradually rolls out this feature to all users.
Through this new system, you can wirelessly navigate through all folders and files saved on your Android phone from your PC. You have the freedom to open, transfer, rename, move, and delete files as needed.
However, some issues have been reported. For instance, when files are deleted from the PC, they will be moved to a separate Recycle Bin on the phone, which will only hold those items for five days instead of the anticipated 30 days, according to the dialogue box. Microsoft is addressing this, and the deleted files will soon be set to clear after 30 days. If some changes aren’t syncing properly to your phone, simply sign out and then sign back into your Windows account.
For optimal connectivity between your PC and mobile devices, it’s highly recommended to update to the latest Windows 11 version, specifically the 24H2 patch.
Have you tried accessing the files on your Android phone using your Windows 11 PC? We would love to hear your thoughts!
With this innovative feature, users can wirelessly browse all their folders and media files stored on their Android devices. You can effortlessly open, transfer files between devices, rename, move, and delete files as you wish.
