Dozens of Windows Users Unable to Access Old Sticky Notes
If you’re still relying on the previous iteration of Sticky Notes for your professional tasks or projects, it’s essential to exercise caution. The application appears to be affected by a recurring bug that hinders users from logging in with their personal Microsoft accounts.
This issue restricts access to Sticky Notes for personal account holders; however, as noted in an official Windows forum discussion, users can still utilize the app via OneNote with their work-related accounts on Android devices.
Accessing Sticky Notes through OneNote using a personal account, however, results in the same error message.
Many users have reported encountering this problem, albeit in various forms. Interestingly, while accessing the latest version of Sticky Notes (integrated into OneNote) with a personal account seems successful, attempting to use the legacy version triggers the Will Not Sign In Error. Curiously, the old version remains functional with other accounts.
A multitude of additional users have echoed experiencing comparable challenges. It’s notable that Microsoft has only recently rolled out the latest Sticky Notes. Despite its automatic installation, the integration with OneNote may not be ideal, as it offers significantly less convenience compared to the traditional format.
It appears that Microsoft is nudging users towards adopting the new OneNote application linked to their accounts.
So, what steps can you take in this situation? Unfortunately, uninstalling, reinstalling, or even rebooting your computer yields no results.
At this point, the most effective solution is to attempt accessing the old Sticky Notes with an alternative account to your primary one. Additionally, you might want to explore the new version.
Rest assured the legacy Sticky Notes still exists and can be utilized if it better suits your needs. Be aware, however, that Microsoft might implement updates without prior notification.
Just yesterday, I was successfully using the Sticky Notes app on my work laptop, but now I encounter the same error on both my work laptop and home computer. There have been no recent Windows updates applied to either device since my last successful access to the Sticky Notes application. I’m using Sticky Notes version 6.1.4.0 on both machines, logged into Windows with my personal Microsoft Account on my home PC and with my work Microsoft Account on my work laptop, where I exclusively use my personal Account for logging into Sticky Notes.
