How to Use Microsoft Copilot in PowerPoint?
1. Create a New Presentation
- Press the Windows key, type PowerPoint in the search field, then select Open from the options presented.
- Navigate to the File tab, click on New, and choose Blank Presentation.
- In the Home tab, select Copilot.
- The Copilot pane will appear, divided into two sections; the top section displays prompt suggestions, while the bottom section allows you to type your queries.
- In the lower section, choose Using this presentation.
- Click Send, and Copilot will create a multi-slide presentation with placeholder content.
2. Obtain Speaker Notes
- Open your presentation and select the View tab.
- In the Show group, click Notes. You’ll find the notes displayed at the bottom of each slide.
- Feel free to edit your notes or go to View, then select Notes Page for a focused view of your notes.
This enables you to create and modify speaker notes for your presentation.
3. Summarize Your Presentation
- Open your PowerPoint presentation and select Copilot from the Home tab.
- Click in the prompt area, type “Summarize this presentation,”and click Send.
- Copilot will provide a cohesive summary of the deck, including references that indicate which slides relate to the summarized content.
- Click Copy to copy the summary to your clipboard, allowing you to paste it into emails, Teams chats, or other platforms.
4. Build a New Presentation Using an Existing File
- From the File tab, click New, then select Blank Presentation.
- Select Copilot on the Home tab.
- Choose the prompt for creating a presentation from a file.
- Select the file you want Copilot to use, ensuring that it’s saved in OneDrive. Navigate to the Files tab and pick the file from the options provided.
- Alternatively, you can paste the OneDrive file’s link in the prompt section. To do this, open the file in OneDrive, select Share, and click on Copy Link.
- Click Copy, paste it into the prompt area in the PowerPoint app, and then hit Send.
Copilot will leverage the information in the provided file to craft a presentation, complete with notes for each slide, as well as an outline of the overall presentation.
