Check Permissions to Access Mailboxes and Folders Directly in Outlook Soon

If you’re looking to manage email permissions effectively in Outlook, you’ll soon have new tools at your disposal. According to a recent update on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the upcoming features in the new Outlook for Windows and Web will allow users to grant mail delegate sharing permissions directly from the app.

This means that users will be able to view mailboxes and folders by allowing delegate access through the redesigned Outlook interface.

The Outlook roadmap update indicates:

While Microsoft has not specified where these permission settings will be located, this new feature is expected to roll out in July 2025, and the tech giant will likely provide further explanations in upcoming blog posts.

This enhancement is certainly poised to simplify admin tasks, ensuring that sensitive emails and data do not fall into the wrong hands.

As noted, this new feature will be available next year.

In related news, the new Outlook for Windows and Web will also restrict the ability to share folders with specific users, a move that the company claims will enhance security within the platform.

Users will have the ability to grant delegate access for mailboxes and folders from the new Outlook app. They’ll also be able to view permissions associated with those mailboxes and folders. #newoutlookforwindows
