Microsoft Confirms Full-Screen Windows 11 Copilot+ Advertisements for Windows 10 PCs
This past weekend, Windows Latest discovered a full-screen advertisement promoting “Copilot+ PCs” on a Windows 10 device. The ad was also identified on a virtual machine running Windows 10. We contacted our Microsoft sources to clarify the situation, and it appears this is part of a new initiative aimed at encouraging Windows 10 users to transition to Windows 11.
As many of you may be aware, support for Windows 10 will officially cease on October 14, 2025. After this date, Microsoft will stop providing security updates or monthly patch fixes for Windows 10, much like the phase-out of support for Windows 7 and XP in the past.
What does this mean for your system? Continuing to use Windows 10 without the security patches leaves your computer open to potential vulnerabilities, including various cyber threats. A lot of users underestimate the risks associated with running an outdated Windows 10 version, particularly when the device is online.
Microsoft has been employing full-screen ads to alert users that Windows 10 support is nearing its end. The advertisement campaign strongly suggests that users consider upgrading their current PCs to Windows 11, purchase a new device, or simply invest $30 for the upgrade.
Ideally, they encourage the acquisition of a new Copilot+ PC.
This information comes from a recent advertisement noted by Windows Latest.
The screenshot shared by Windows Latest highlights Microsoft’s push for users to upgrade to a Windows 11 PC. The ad emphasizes that the deadline for Windows 10 support arriving on October 14, 2025, makes upgrading an imperative decision.
They assure users that transferring their essential files and applications will be a seamless process. Additionally, the ad outlines advantages such as enhanced battery life, quicker internet browsing, and improved security features.
For an optimal user experience, the advertisement recommends the latest “Copilot+ PCs,” highlighting them as the fastest and most advanced Windows 11 devices available.
This advertisement initiative is also being trialed in various languages, including German, showcasing Microsoft’s global approach to user communication:
Microsoft representatives confirmed that the full-screen promotions aim to entice users to explore the capabilities of Windows 11 and the new Copilot+ PCs. While these ads primarily push Copilot+ models, the overarching aim is to raise awareness about the impending end of Windows 10 support.
As previously reported, Microsoft asserted that Copilot+ PCs powered by Windows 11 offer performance that is five times better than many popular Windows PCs from just five years ago.
Moreover, users will also encounter similar notifications highlighting the new gaming functionalities in Windows 11.
Is that the extent of the strategy? Not quite. According to Windows Latest, Microsoft is poised to intensify its marketing efforts for Windows 11 to Windows 10 users—a move that is likely unsurprising.
As Windows 10 approaches its conclusion, Microsoft aims to expedite users’ transition to Windows 11.
