PlayStation Portal Introduces Cloud Streaming for PS5 Games
Essential Information
- Sony introduces cloud streaming (Beta) on PlayStation Portal as of today.
- With a PS Plus Premium subscription, you can stream over 120 PS5 titles without needing a PS5 console.
- This Beta retains the functionality of controller features, though it currently does not support party chat or PS4/PS3 titles.
Sony has begun the testing phase of its cloud streaming (Beta) service on the PlayStation Portal. This feature enables players to access PS5 games without the requirement of owning the actual console, provided they subscribe to PS Plus Premium.
You can now enjoy streaming a selection of more than 120 PS5 games, including popular titles like Ghost of Tsushima and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. These games can be played at 1080p resolution with a smooth frame rate of 60 fps, assuming your internet connection is 13 Mbps or faster.
The Beta successfully retains the Portal’s controller capabilities: you’ll experience haptic feedback, adaptive trigger resistance, and motion control support. Additionally, users receive 100GB of cloud storage for save data and can choose between downloading and streaming games.
As this feature is still in testing, some functionalities are not yet available. Currently, game demos, friend chats, the create button, 3D audio, and in-game purchases are not supported. Also, titles from PS4 and PS3 are not included in this streaming Beta.
To participate in the Beta, ensure you have a Portal device, an active PS Plus Premium account, and a reliable internet connection. The service is accessible in 30 regions, including the US, UK, Canada, and much of Europe. Simply navigate to the Quick Menu settings and enable Cloud Streaming to begin your gaming experience.
