Discover Microsoft Edge’s Newest Feature: Track Your Browsing Activity Across All Devices
Microsoft Edge is preparing to introduce an exciting functionality: the capability to synchronize usage data, enabling users to maintain consistent Edge browser data across various devices.
This newly introduced Feature Usage represents a different category of data that can be synced. Users will now have the ability to synchronize details about their usage of diverse Edge functionalities on every device they employ.
According to a recent update on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the tech giant from Redmond confirms that this feature will soon be available for the web version of Edge and will also include data from the mobile application.
Essentially, this enhancement will enable users to access and utilize insights regarding their interactions with Edge features on any device they choose.
While this functionality may not hold significant value for the average user—mainly providing insights related to their browsing duration on Edge—it might prove beneficial for organizations that want to analyze the way employees utilize Microsoft Edge for their tasks.
The Feature Usage feature is expected to roll out in Microsoft Edge by January 2025.
In related news, Microsoft is taking steps to encourage Edge users to shift away from Chrome, recently removing the shortcut to the Chrome Web Store from the Edge Appearance Settings, a change noticed in the Canary channel.
Edge Sync, which facilitates the synchronization of Edge user data across different devices, is unveiling a new category for sync data known as Feature Usage. This category will empower users to synchronize information pertaining to how they engage with Edge features across all their devices.
