As reported by 9to5Google, the new design showcases five preset speed options in stylish pill-shaped icons: 0.25x, 1.0x (Normal), 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2.0x. A notable feature is the slider functionality that allows for precise adjustments at 0.05x intervals, supplemented with plus and minus buttons for additional fine-tuning.
This update is particularly advantageous for students and DIY enthusiasts who often utilize speed controls for educational and instructional content. Learners can accelerate lengthy lectures, while DIY fans can decelerate tutorial videos for better comprehension.
The improved playback speed feature is being rolled out through a server-side update in version 19.43 of YouTube for Android users and 19.44 for iOS.
