3 Methods to Always Launch Microsoft Edge in Incognito Mode

How to Automatically Start Edge in Private Mode?

1. Modify the Shortcut

  1. Find the Edge shortcut on your desktop or in the Start menu. Right-click on it and select Properties.
  2. In the Target field, append -inprivate after the closing quote. Make sure there is a space before -inprivate.edge inprivate target shortcut
  3. Click Apply and then OK to save your changes.

Once you’ve set up the Microsoft Edge Incognito shortcut, remember to use this shortcut for opening Edge in Incognito mode.

2. Modify the Registry Settings

  1. Press Windows + R , type regedit in the dialog box, and hit OK.Regedit RUN window
  2. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft microsoft key registry
  3. Right-click on the Microsoft key and select New then Key.
  4. Label this new key as Edge and select it.
  5. Within the Edge key, right-click in the right pane and select New. Choose DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  6. Name this DWORD InPrivateModeAvailability. After creating it, double-click to access its properties.
  7. Change the Value data to 2 and confirm your changes.inprivatemodeavailability

Now, anytime you open Edge, it will automatically start in Incognito mode.

3. Adjust Edge Privacy Settings

  1. Open Edge, click the Menu icon, and select Settings.edge menu settings
  2. Go to Privacy, search, and services.
  3. Click on Choose what to clear every time you close the browser.choose what to clear every time edge
  4. Select every option listed.select all options to clear

Note that while this method won’t create a full InPrivate mode, it effectively clears all browsing data at the end of each session, mimicking private browsing functionality.
