How to Resolve BO6 Error Code 0x3

The BO6 error code 0x3 typically arises from corrupted game files or conflicts with anti-cheat software. This issue is also noticed in Call of Duty MW3, and the following solutions can help resolve error codes 0x1 and 0x8 as well.

What steps can I take to resolve BO6 error code 0x3?

1. Repair or Reset the Game

  1. Click on the Start menu and choose Settings.
  2. Select Apps on the left, then click on Installed apps on the right.
  3. Locate Call of Duty by searching for it or scrolling through the installed apps list.
  4. Click on the three dots located to its right and choose Advanced options.
  5. Scroll down to find the Repair option. Attempt to launch BO6 and check if the error code 0x3 appears again.
  6. If the error persists, return to the Advanced options and click on Reset.
  7. Start Black Ops 6.

Most gamers find that repairing or resetting Black Ops 6 effectively resolves the BO6 error code 0x3, and the process is straightforward.

2. Close Riot Vanguard

  1. Ensure that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is completely closed; you can verify this in the Task Manager.
  2. Click on the icon on your PC’s Taskbar to view running applications.
  3. If Riot Vanguard is operational, right-click on it and choose Exit Vanguard, then confirm by clicking Yes.
  4. Reopen Black Ops 6.

Riot Vanguard has been known to cause errors in MW3, so terminating it may quickly resolve your issues.

3. Remove reWASD and Faceit Anti-Cheat Software

  1. Hit the Start button and open Settings.
  2. On the left, select Apps and proceed to Installed apps on the right.
  3. Find the reWASD program, click the three dots next to it, select Uninstall, and skip any additional questions.
  4. If installed, repeat this process for the Faceit app.
  5. Open Black Ops 6 to see if the error code 0x3 returns.

reWASD is another application known to interfere with Call of Duty, and uninstalling it often resolves the problem.

4. Execute the Call of Duty Randgrid Service Setup Script

  1. Download the Randgrid Service Setup Script for Windows 11.
  2. After downloading, right-click on cod_service_setup.bat and select Run as administrator.
  3. Click on More info, then choose Run anyway and confirm by clicking Run.
  4. Copy and paste the location of your Call of Duty content folder (e.g., C:\XboxGames\Call of Duty\Content) into the Command Prompt.
  5. Hit Enter and wait for the script to finish its task.
  6. Restart Black Ops 6 and check if the error reappears.

By applying these methods, you should be able to resolve the BO6 error code 0x3 on your PC. In many cases, just one of the first three solutions will suffice, but you can also consider the last option or reinstall the game if needed.
