Windows 10 Update 19045.5070 Reveals GPU Specifications and Enhancements to About Page Design
  • The Beta and Release Preview Channels have just received update KB5045594 (build 19045.5070) for Windows 10.
  • This update introduces graphics card details in the “Device Specifications” section on the About page.
  • Additionally, Microsoft is testing a revamped visual layout for displaying hardware specifications within the About page.

Microsoft is rolling out a design overhaul for the “About”settings page in Windows 10 that presents essential hardware specs in a card format instead of plain text. Currently, they are experimenting with this new layout in the Settings app following the release of update KB5045594 (build 19045.5070) to the Beta Channel. Notably, the update is also accessible in the Release Preview Channel, albeit without the new “About” settings layout.

Since its initial launch, the “About” settings page has provided users with basic information about hardware such as the processor, memory, system type, and other details in a straightforward text format. With the arrival of build 19045.5070, Microsoft is exploring a visually dynamic approach, showcasing hardware details in a card format that incorporates visual indicators, thus enhancing user comprehension of device specifications.

At the top of the revamped “About” page, users will find four cards outlining specifics regarding memory, processor, graphics card, and storage. A significant aspect of this update is the inclusion of graphics card information, allowing users to view details such as the name, brand, and memory size without needing any external tools or third-party applications.

The card layout at the top is intended to complement, rather than replace, the existing “Device Specifications” section, which will still provide additional information such as device and product identification, system type, and touch support.

This welcome visual enhancement raises questions, particularly why these improvements are not rolling out first on Windows 11. It’s surprising that it took nearly a decade for Microsoft to incorporate graphics card data into this section.

The rollout of the new “About” page design is happening gradually across devices. However, those interested in enabling it manually can use the ViveTool by entering the command vivetool /enable /id:48478026,48433719,49453572 (via @PhantomOfEarth). It’s worth noting that upon attempting to activate these changes, I experienced crashes when trying to access the “About” page within the Settings app.

Moreover, Microsoft has silently introduced a new “Copy” functionality in the “Share” interface, which mirrors a similar feature found in Windows 11. To activate this capability manually, use the command vivetool /enable /id:53511882,53614885 along with the ViveTool.

Update KB5045594 also brings various modifications for devices in the Beta and Release Preview Channels beyond just the Settings app changes.

For instance, the account manager within the Start menu now has the “Sign out” option conveniently located in the main menu, while the submenu displays additional accounts available for switching.

This update also addresses a Blue Screen of Death issue relating to the vmswitch process, resolves upgrade challenges to Windows 11, and fixes problems with product activation phone numbers, Multi-Function Printer (MFP) integration, and WebView2 applications. Additionally, this release updates the country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA) profile.

How to Install Build 19045.5070

To obtain Windows 10 build 19045.5070, you need to join the Beta or Release Preview Channel. After enrollment, navigate to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, turn on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle switch, and then click the “Check for updates” button.
