Edge Dev 130.0.2849.1 Introduces Manual Site Indexing Features in the Browser

Microsoft has unveiled a significant update for the Edge Dev Channel, version 130.0.2849.1, now accessible for Insiders to explore. This update introduces numerous new features and modifications, alongside the routine bug fixes and enhancements in performance.

One of the key highlights is a groundbreaking feature that allows Insiders to manually mark specific websites for reindexing within the Edge browser, empowering users to activate site indexing on demand.

This functionality aims to keep websites current within the browser’s Index Now feature, which has also undergone improvements to simplify the process of understanding when websites are being indexed.

Additionally, users will find a new capability to manage cookies and site permissions directly from the URL bar, enabled by a new button in the address bar. Users can adjust permissions, such as microphone and location access for each site, and the button will illuminate when interacting with a site that has restricted content.

Beyond these new features, this build comprises several minor tweaks and fixes. A comprehensive list can be found in the changelog, but here are some key highlights:

• Resolved an issue that caused the browser to crash while opening the Settings page on Xbox.
• This update addresses crashes when signing in and out of accounts on iOS devices and while activating Tab Center with pre-existing groups.
