Increase Size of Home Screen Icons and Hide App Names in iOS 18

Important Information

  • With iOS 18, you can now enlarge app icons while simultaneously hiding their labels.
  • To do this, tap and hold on the Home Screen, then select Edit (top left) > Customize > Large.
  • As of June 12, 2024, the iOS 18 update is currently available only as a developer beta.

Apple has made significant strides in Home screen customization on the iPhone with the introduction of iOS 18. Users can explore various ways to personalize their Home screen beyond just layout changes.

Now, you can freely reposition apps across your Home screen and tweak the color and tint of app icons for enhanced visual appeal. One exciting feature is the ability to enlarge app icons, which many users have requested, and it also allows you to conceal the labels of the apps. If you prefer a clean, minimalist look on your Home screen with only icons visible, follow these steps if you’re on iOS 18.

Steps to Enlarge Home Screen Icons and Hide App Labels

  1. Press and hold on an empty area of your Home screen until the app icons begin to jiggle.
  2. Tap the Edit button located in the top left corner, then choose Customize.
    Customize Menu
    Select Customize Option
  3. At the bottom of the screen, tap on Large. This will increase the size of the icons and hide their labels.
    Select Large Icons

While the size adjustment may not be dramatically noticeable, there is anticipation that Apple will introduce further modifications in future updates. For instance, featuring the option to customize individual app sizes akin to functionalities provided by Nothing would enhance the experience. But perhaps that’s asking for too much!

iOS 18 also includes many other cosmetic updates and improvements in user experience, marking it as a significant update. As we look forward to the forthcoming Apple Intelligence, there’s plenty more to expect. Stay updated!
