Microsoft Introduces Significant Updates to Windows 11 24H2 with KB5043355, KB5043353, and KB5043939

Microsoft has recently introduced KB5043355, a recovery update for Windows 11 version 24H2. This update enhances the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) for the second feature update of Windows 11 in 2024.

WinRE is the essential recovery environment in Windows, designed to assist users in troubleshooting and recovering from boot issues and other complications that might hinder the operating system from booting normally.

Alongside KB5043355, KB5043353 has also been released, which addresses issues with Setup.exe binaries to enhance the overall Windows setup experience for version 24H2.

This update is available through Windows Update and serves to improve the binaries and other files utilized during feature updates for Windows 11 version 24H2.

As detailed by Microsoft, the Dynamic Update is one of the initial processes initiated when a Windows feature update starts. It reaches out to an internet-facing URL managed by Microsoft to retrieve new content and applies these updates to your OS installation media. This content includes setup binary fixes, Safe OS updates for the Windows Recovery Environment, Windows 10 servicing stack updates, the latest cumulative updates, driver updates, and more.

The update process will retain language packs and Features on Demand content, ensuring that users do not lose any functionalities present before the update.

KB5043355 and KB5043353 are accessible for Arm64 and AMD64 Copilot+ PCs via the Windows Update Catalog.

Additionally, the tech giant from Redmond has begun the rollout of the September 2024 Patch Tuesday updates, available through Windows Update as KB5043939. This update focuses on improving the out-of-box experience (OOBE) in Windows 11 24H2. The OOBE update is optional and will be installed automatically during setup if the device has an active internet connection.

According to Microsoft, the September 10, 2024 update enhances the Windows 11 version 24H2 OOBE. This particular update is exclusive to the OOBE process and is only available when OOBE updates are being installed.

In a separate document regarding OOBE, Microsoft outlined the enhancements these updates provide, emphasizing that the time required for downloading and installing the update varies depending on the user’s hardware and internet speed.

Important driver updates and critical Windows zero-day patch (ZDP) updates will automatically begin downloading during OOBE once the user connects to a network. Users cannot opt out of these essential updates as they are crucial for the proper functioning of the device. Windows will inform users that the device is checking for and applying these updates.
