Revamped Microsoft Edge Settings Page for Enhanced User Interface Experience
Microsoft is preparing to revamp the layout of the Edge Settings page next month, with significant updates rolling out in October. The latest entry in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap details these upcoming changes.
The Redmond-based tech giant will provide quick access to the most frequently used actions directly on the Settings landing page. For instance, if updating Edge is your most common action, it will be prominently featured after the update.
The revamped landing page will also include shortcuts to highly trafficked areas such as Privacy, Search and Services, Appearance, Cookies and Site Permissions, and System and Performance.
Moreover, each section mentioned earlier will have an organized table of contents, making it easier to navigate the various sub-settings.
As noted in the entry on Microsoft’s roadmap, these enhancements are scheduled for October. However, the company has not specified whether the updates will be implemented gradually or all at once. Importantly, the updates will not alter the functionality of the existing settings.
In addition to the modifications to the Settings user interface, Microsoft is also planning to integrate the Windows 11 Energy Saver feature with Microsoft Edge to enhance battery life. This feature has been observed in the Dev Channel and is expected to be enabled by default.
To improve the ease of finding browser settings, Microsoft Edge is introducing three navigation enhancements to Edge Settings. While the functionality of each setting remains unchanged, they will be organized under clickable sections. Firstly, the landing page of Edge Settings will offer quick access to the most utilized actions. Secondly, densely populated pages—Privacy, Search and Services; Appearance; Cookies and Site Permissions; System and Performance—will provide swift links to their frequently used actions. Lastly, for these pages, each section will link to its corresponding sub-settings, akin to a table of contents.
