How to Fix iPhone Contacts Not Syncing with iCloud
Are you having trouble locating some of your synced contacts on your iPhone? Typically, contacts sync from other devices using iCloud. If you notice that certain contacts are missing, the following solutions could be beneficial. Begin with the basic troubleshooting steps and proceed to the more advanced methods if necessary.
Why Are Some Contacts Missing from iCloud?
The primary reason you may not see certain contacts is that they need to be synced through iCloud. A modification in iCloud settings can result in this issue on your iPhone. Here are some solutions to help resolve it.
Fix 1 – Disable and Re-enable Contacts Syncing
You can manage your contact synchronization settings directly from the main iCloud settings page.
Step 1 – Initiate the troubleshooting process by accessing your iPhone Settings.
Step 2 – At the top of the Settings menu, tap on your Apple ID banner.
Step 3 – Once the banner opens, select the “iCloud” option.
This will take you to the iCloud Settings page.
Step 4 – Navigate to the ‘Saved to iCloud’ section and click on “See All” to view the complete list of apps.
Step 5 – Find the “Contacts” option in the list. If it is disabled, enable it immediately.
Step 6 – If the Contacts option is already enabled, simply disable it and then re-enable it again.
Step 7 – If your iPhone displays the ‘Existing Local Contacts‘ message, tap the “Merge” option.
After enabling Contacts on this page, iCloud should begin the contact syncing process automatically.
Return to the Contacts page or open the Dialer to check if the numbers are accessible.
Fix 2 – Set the Default Account Source
Your iPhone can only sync contacts from one source at a time. Try setting your ‘Default Account’ to iCloud.
Step 1 – This action can be completed from the Settings page. Navigate to the Settings tab.
Step 2 – On the following page, open the “Apps” tab.
Step 3 – Locate the “Contacts” app and select it.
Step 4 – In the Contacts app, scroll down and select the “Default Account” menu.
Step 5 – Change the setting to “iCloud” .
Allow a moment for all accounts to sync to your device. Check if this resolves the issue.
